Back To The Emergency Room

Trees are evil.  After being attacked by one, Pam and I have had many bonfires over at our property in plain view of the trees to serve as a warning.  I haven't been in the emergency room for a couple of months.  I thought I won.  I did not.

Live trees are petrified of us and our chainsaws and woodstove.  They know better than to mess with us.  That didn't include one type of tree, however.

I was sitting at my laptop solving the world's problems with my sage advice yesterday.  Pam was decorating the cabin with Christmas stuff.  She saw that our little boat Christmas tree is indoor/outdoor, and she thought it would be perfect at the head of our driveway, and she could light it with the solar powered LED Christmas lights she bought.

Suddenly, she came running in with her hand over her left eye.  It seems the artificial tree attacked her and poked her in her eyeball with an artificial limb.

Back to the emergency room.  We're on a first name basis with all the staff and send each other birthday cards now.

We were there for four hours, and the staff did a thorough job.  They did a CT-Scan, the doc put stain in her eye and scoped it, and then called an ophthalmologist on staff.  Pam scratched the white of her eyeball and nicked her cornea.  He sent her off with antibiotics, numbing drops, and other mysterious drops.  Pam is to call the ophthalmologist first thing Monday morning to set up an appointment.  The worst of it is that she can't work, read, watch TV, or play with her iPad.

"No iPad?  No Candy Crush?  No Word with Friends??"

"No," he said solemnly and sternly.

So right now, as I write this first draft on Sunday night, Pam is on her iPad.

See her left eye, in the outer corner?  I have a close-up photo down below, but don't scroll down there if you're squeamish.

  1. Ok that is yucky, sorry to hear about that Pam. Don't know if this Unabomber cabin thing is the answer. Maybe Assisted Living ;-) Seriously, glad to hear you are ok.

  2. I never knew I didnt like trees until I went out to Kansas to visit my son and I actually could see the sky...the roadways are much nicer too without trees hanging over them...trees bring us air to breath and heat from firewood....dont like being around them either now that I have seen a place with out trees....

  3. Love trees! Especially pine trees in the mountains! (And I live in Oklahoma???)

I think it's either gotta be Drift Away (The BOAT) or the senior center for you two! I'm sure you can come up with a "dinghy" tow boat for Jeremiah! Or you can leave all the animals in Bleeckest and steal that Monster Chihuahua and hit the water....

    Be CAREFUL you two!!!
