Those of you who followed my boating "Drift Away" blog know that I'm an amateur photographer. I really enjoy taking photos, and digital photography makes it cheap (always good!) and easy. A little over a year ago, I was working on the Boston Whaler on the roof of Drift Away and I left my point-and-shoot out overnight in the rain. It didn't do it any good. Pam convinced me to buy something decent, and so I bought a low end DSLR, a Nikon D3100 with both a 55mm and 300mm lens. It's been the best money I've spent on myself in a long, long time.
We're just getting underway building our little place in Bleecker and I'll be documenting what we've done with it, just as I did on Drift Away. And like Drift Away, I'll also take it along on walks in the woods to photograph whatever I see. On the boat, that meant gulls, driftwood beaches, and friggin' pelicans and such. In Bleecker, it will be the occasional bear, local birds, bees, and whatever else I happen to see.
Yesterday was a photography day. I was in the mood. Here are the results.
One thing we're not lacking is sticks.

Today we're headed off the mountain to see about buying a trailer (as in tractor-trailer) and then meeting up with long time Drift Away blog friend Kurt for lunch. It's a rainy day and this will be a good way to pass it. This might also be a good way; making wattle fencing.

ReplyDeleteI think your friggin' bear will make short work of a wattle fence to get at the bird seed you put out for the friggin" hummers. But then, maybe any Adirondack black bear could scoff at any fence you put up. I think a wattle fence surrounding the goat corral would be cool.
