OK OK, New Post

I haven't posted every day like I used to because, well, I'm not doing anything.  I guess I could post...

Sitting at the laptop all day again.  Drank three cups of coffee.  Peed.
Next day.

I spend a lot of time reading and watching movies.  I've probably seen more movies in the past  month than I have in the past decade.  We use the Netflix DVD service.  We don't stream movies and "watch instantly" anymore because of the limitations of our satellite internet service.

Just to set the record straight, when I watch a movie I want to be entertained.  I don't want to watch anything with social redeeming value, or anything that makes me sad or angry.  I don't want to watch Sophie's Choice.  I want to watch Naked Gun 33 1/3.

Anyway, I was on Facebook and saw someone post about something called the Enders.  It's a sci-fi flick, maybe a series of TV shows.  It had three stars so I added it to our Netflix queue.  As it usually does, Facebook recommended other movies including one called the Rocketeer.  It's about a guy in a rocket suit based on a bad serial movie I'd seen as a kid in the '50s.  I'd seen it a couple of decades ago and  enjoyed it, so I added that one to our queue.  Up came more recommendations, including the King of the Rocketmen.  There it was!  It was that serial I watched as a kid in the 1950s on Saturday mornings.  I'd been looking for it for years, ever since there was a Netflix.  Not only did I add it to our queue, but moved it to number one!   Pam is going to be so excited!

Yesterday we watched the Buddy Holly Story starring Gary Busey.  I'm not a fan of Gary Busey, but he was phenomenal in this movie, playing guitar and singing besides acting.  I didn't know that Busey was a professional musician and played with Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson.   Fantastic.  Busey was nominated for an Oscar for this role.

We've also been watching Fawlty Towers, my favorite TV comedy ever.  I've seen each of the twelve episodes dozens of times.  If it's so good, why did they make only twelve shows?  According to John Cleese, they wanted to go out on top, and the show was so funny that there was only one direction it could go.

We also just started watching what is probably the epitome of the classic family TV show, Little House on the Prairie.   No, I don't know why.   They just make me feel good.
